Can we have the logo changed already?

There’s been a few requests for the logo to be reverted to its usual orange self, or to topical themes, like the Top Gear font, a soccer ball in honor of the Women's World Cup, and a few other suggestions. Let's get on with this, mmmk?

Some people might be colourblind and may find a rainbow offensive and discriminating.

We change our logo to reflect current events or holidays.

I have never seen more people bitch about a stupid logo at the top of a website to return home than some of you people with this rainbow logo.

Imagine it’s Jeff Gordon’s old Dupont scheme if the real meaning behind it is that damn bothersome.

It’s horribly pixelated, most notably. We may not be part of Jalopnik anymore, but surely we have higher standards than that?

How dare you, you intolerant bigoted shitlord. Just wanting to change the gay away. When Hillary’s New Lesbian Order takes over in 2016 your kind will be the first lined up against the wall!

/sarcasm

(if you really don’t like it, block the logo in Adblock)

I mentioned that. Why not a change to the Top Gear font to mark the end of the Clarkson/May/Hammond era as noted? Why not a football/soccer ball for the Women’s World Cup final?

At this point - and I’m trying to remain politically neutral here - it seems like more of a power play than a legit, supportable (or not) political statement (which isn’t the point of Oppo) by those in favor of a highly controversial topic. Taking a step back, one could see it as an exclusionary move, which can alienate those who may not agree with the ideology (regardless of legality, again, trying to remain politically neutral), and takes the focus of the blog away from automobiles and automobile-related topics, as well as the charming asides of user-generated content. Gawker has a home for the topic related to the colors of the current logo with the RoyGBiv blog, if that’s what folks want. If we have a rainbow-themed logo, why not something else similarly divisive, like the “stars and bars”, a swastika, the flag of ISIS, the Guy Fawkes mask, perhaps a skull and crossbones? They’re all protected by free speech, and folks behind each have their own reasons - right or wrong - for having them be a symbol to themselves. Who decides what is up there, and what makes their decisions hold greater validity than other users’?

Someone joked that it could be seen as Jeff Gordon’s NASCAR colors; Clearly it isn’t, but if so, then why not a weekly or daily rotation of every other driver? Why not other racing liveries? Do we change to Ayrton Senna’s motif on the day of his death? Same for Dale Earnhart? Should we have had Canada’s flag on Canada Day, or the United States’ flag on July 4th? That excludes other countries where other Oppo members are present. Unless we recognize those other countries’ special days, but then keeping abreast of all of those can become a full-time job in and of itself.

It seems we either go all-in, or leave it stock.
